Alpine finishes off the 2023 launch season by unveiling two liveries

Alpine became the final team to reveal their 2023 challenger showcasing two liveries similar to the last season.

Alpine F1 revealed their 2023 car A523 showcasing two different liveries – a regular one and a special pink livery.

Just like last year, Alpine will run the special pink BWT livery for the first three races. Then the team will again switch to the official pink and blue shades livery.

This year’s livery has a lot of black areas. Just like many other teams including Mercedes, Alpine is also trying to save some extra grams by not painting a few areas.

Matt Harman, the technical director of Alpine, then showcased the car detailing about the changes in the new challenger in comparison to last year:

โ€œWeโ€™ve taken some of the cooling system that weโ€™ve normally had on the centerline. And weโ€™ve reduced it because we want to try and control some of this mass flow going to the rear of the car. Normally we would just take that amount of face area and weโ€™d put it in the side pod. But actually the teams have worked really aggressively at improving the efficiency of that system.

โ€œSo actually, weโ€™ve removed it from there. But weโ€™ve not put it in here weโ€™ve made the system smaller. And also weโ€™ve managed to reduce the plenum temperature for the engine as well. Which again, gives us not only an aerodynamic benefit, but more crank power.

โ€œWeโ€™ve gone from the pull rod rear suspension to a push rod for quite a few different reasons. We need to take some weight out of our car. We did have a very interesting concept for last year, but this one is more interesting. Itโ€™s a little bit simpler with the push rod and itโ€™s allowed us to take an awful lot of weight on the rear of the car.โ€
