Arne Slot to Liverpool deal done

With Jurgen Klopp’s departure and Arne Slot’s entry, Liverpool will definitely undergo change. The Reds beat Wolves 2-0 in their last game under Jurgen Klopp. On that final day, the long-time manager was in tears. It was obvious to see that considering Klopp managed Liverpool since 2015. Since his time at Anfield, he won many trophies with the club including a Premier League title, FA Cup, a Champions League title, and many more. The German manager gave the fans what they wanted throughout these years. Although every manager and club have their ups and downs, Klopp is a manager that the fans will remember forever. After Klopp’s final game as the Liverpool manager, Anfield sang the club’s anthem song, ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ and the entire stadium cheered, ‘Danke Jurgen’.

How Liverpool’s quadruple hopes were shattered

After Klopp announced his exit from Anfield, the fans were expecting his last season to be memorable. Liverpool began their trophy chase in February by winning the Carabao Cup, however, it did not continue. The Reds beat Chelsea in a thrilling 1-0 game and got their first trophy of the season. Thus, the club were hoping they’d see Liverpool win a quadruple by winning the FA Cup, Europa League, and Premier League. The Reds first got out of the FA Cup after losing to Manchester United in the quarter-finals. Man United won the game 4-3 with a last-minute goal during extra time. Post that, they believed they could do the treble, but unfortunately, got out of the Europa League as well. Atalanta defeated Klopp’s side in the quarter-finals with a 3-1 aggregate. Additionally, their Premier League hopes were shattered after winning only two out six games towards the end.

What did Jurgen Klopp say in his farewell speech at Anfield?

Klopp gave the fans at an emotional farewell speech at Anfield. He also introduced the new manager by singing ‘Arne Slot, la la la….’. Moreover, he told the fans to believe in the players and keep pushing them the way they always did. The entire stadium was in tears while Klopp gave his goodbye speech.

Klopp began by saying,

“I thought I would already in pieces by now but I’m not. But I’m so happy about you all, about the atmosphere, about the game, about being part of this family, about us, how we celebrated this day. It’s incredible. Thank you so much.”

The manager further added,

“I saw a lot of people crying and it will happen to me tonight because I will miss people. But change is good. You never know what to expect but if you go with the right attitude into everything will be fine because the basics are 100 percent there. They are the team and that’s the new coach.”

The manager further expressed his love for the fans and the club. In all, it was an emotional day for the fans as well as Klopp himself. Despite the sadness, there will also be excitement among the fans to see what Arne Slot can bring to the club.
