Pundit Chris Waddle suggests Newcastle defender Fabian Schar impressed everyone against PSG in Champions League last night.

Newcastle run a 4:1 riot against the French Giants at St. James Park. Fabian Schar scored an unbelievable goal in added extra time to seal to game for the Magpies.

Speaking on BBC 5 Live, Waddle was commenting on Newcastle’s historic night in Champions League. Newcastle hosted their first European game in 20 years and the crowd made sure the visitors have tough time at St. James Park last night.

Luis Enrique’s idea of deploying four attackers back fired on him as PSG were horrendous last night. Newcastle outplayed them and dominated the game for most of the time.

However, Schar’s performance at the back has been one to remember. He scored a brilliant goal from outside the box to end the night on a high note.

Praising the Swiss defender, Waddle said :-

“Unbelievable, what a strike by [Fabian] Schar. I don’t know why he’s up there anyway!

“He wins the ball, gets involved in the play, he swallows it, he gets the ball back and he bends it as he’s reaching for it.

“He falls over as he kicks it with enough bend and pace and whip and [Gianluigi] Donnarumma who’s a top-class goalie can’t get anywhere near it.

“He’s just stretching as he hits it, he hits the deck, that is going in the top corner and you’ve got to say over the night, Newcastle United thoroughly deserve this victory.”
