Newcastle United to Make Bid for Kieran Tierney, Eyeing Left-Back Reinforcement

Kiren Tierney

Newcastle United is preparing to bid for Arsenal’s left-back Kieran Tierney, aiming to strengthen their defense for the upcoming season. Despite not being a regular starter, Tierney’s attacking and defensive skills make him an attractive target for Newcastle. The player’s interest in a move paves the way for a formal offer by month-end, solidifying Newcastle’s frontrunner status in pursuing the Scottish international.

The Magpies’ unwavering pursuit of Kieran Tierney seems to be yielding positive results, as they maintain their pole position in the race for the talented defender. Tierney, who sees a move to Newcastle as an opportunity to be closer to home, is reportedly enticed by the prospect of joining the north-east club.

Kieran Tierney Tops Newcastle’s Wishlist

Manager Eddie Howe has prioritized strengthening the left-back position, with Kieran Tierney occupying the top spot on Newcastle’s wishlist. The former Celtic star has been on Newcastle’s radar since February, underscoring his importance in the club’s strategic plans. While Borna Sosa is also a potential target, Tierney’s experience and defensive prowess make him the preferred choice.

A Fresh Start for Tierney

In 2019, Arsenal secured the services of Kieran Tierney from Celtic in a £25 million deal. Since then, Tierney has made 123 appearances for the Gunners and earned 37 caps for the Scottish national team.

With reduced playing time and the arrival of Aleksandr Zinchenko, Tierney’s position as the Gunners‘ first-choice left-back has been compromised. Furthermore, a season marred by injuries has further complicated matters. Notably, Manchester City has also shown interest in the Scottish defender, potentially offering a deal involving João Cancelo.

Kieran Tierney’s market value is currently estimated at around €15 million. Considering that Arsenal initially paid £25 million for his services, this valuation presents an enticing opportunity for Newcastle.

With a potential bid in the works, Newcastle aims to secure Tierney’s services and add him to their squad ahead of the upcoming season.
