Who will be the next Brighton manager?

Brighton

The Brighton and Hove Albion manager, Robert De Zerbi managed his last game of the season at the Amex Stadium last Sunday. Although Brighton lost to Manchester United, their overall performance under the Italian has been great. De Zerbi came to Brighton in 2022, after Graham Potter made a move to Chelsea. De Zerbi’s time with the Seagulls was successful. Moreover, last season he led them to finish sixth, which is the highest position they’ve been in. As a result, they secured a European spot which led to De Zerbi gaining attraction. Although there is no final decision on who will take the managerial role at Brighton, the search for potential candidates has begun. Some of the managers on the list are Ruben Amorim, Vincent Kompany, Kieran Mckenna, and Graham Potter.

4 potential managers who could come to Brighton next season

Before Liverpool revealed Arne Slot’s entrance, several reports were stating that Ruben Amorim could take over at Anfield. The Sporting FC manager would love a Premier League move. Moreover, the young manager could be happy to take on Brighton, if the club approaches him. Additionally, Vincent Kompany is set to leave Burnley this season. However, Brighton might not want to take a risk with him after Burnley’s disappointing season. Another manager who could be fit for Brighton is Kieran Mckenna. The Ipswitch manager had a brilliant season with the club and got them promoted to the Premier League. Although he could decide to continue at Ipswitch, there are chances he might fancy a move to Brighton. Furthermore, one massive move that could take place is the return of Graham Potter to the Amex. Although the chances of that happening are less, it is not impossible.

What did De Zerbi say about his Brighton departure?

Brighton has done a fine job under De Zerbi’s management. However, the manager decided to part ways after this season to take a break to decide his future plans.

While speaking about his exit, De Zerbi said,

“I am very sad to be leaving Brighton, but I am very proud of what my players and staff have achieved with the support of everyone at the club and our amazing fans in the past two historical seasons. We have agreed to end my time at Brighton so that the club and I can continue to work in the way that suits each of us best, following our own ideas and visions, as well as our work and human values.”

The manager further mentioned his happiness in the two years as the Brighton manager. De Zerbi said,

“I have really enjoyed an intense and challenging two years working in the Premier League, not least competing in four major competitions this season. Leaving now provides me with time to take a break before deciding on my future plans.”

Why did the Seagulls have a difficult campaign?

Brighton did not have a miserable season, however, they went through a few challenges which led to the destruction of their squad. The Seagulls lost two important players after selling them to other Premier League clubs. Alexis Mac Allister was sold to Liverpool while Moises Caicedo was sold to Chelsea. Although Caicedo did not do much this season, Mac Allister was brilliant. Moreover, Brighton’s squad was disturbed with Kaoru Mitoma being absent due to a long-standing injury. Additionally, another important player that was out for long was Solly March. Mitoma and March were out for several months and are still recovering. The absence of these players was a major blow for the Seagulls. Nonetheless, they displayed quite a few exceptional performances this season.
