Chelsea are set to complete the signing of Djordje Petrovic, medical booked

Chelsea

Chelsea FC are set to seal and complete another signing. Djordje Petrovic of New England Revolution has been under Chelsea‘s and Pochettino’s radar for about a week now. Following the departure of Kepa, Robert Sànchez has become Chelsea’s first choice goalkeeper. Kepa’s departure has also forced The Blues to search for a second choice goalkeeper. Seems like their search is about to come to an end as Petrovic’s medical has reportedly been booked and the signing is set to be completed within this week.

According to SkySports, Petrovic is expected to cost Chelsea around £12.5m initially, with £1.5m as add-ons. It is also reported that Petrovic will be signing a seven-year contract, till 2030 with the Blues. Medical for the player has been booked and he is expected to arrive in London for it in the coming days.

“Petrovic has the potential to be Chelsea’s first choice Goalkeeper”

Even though Petrovic will be signed as a deputy keeper for Robert Sànchez, the Serbian GK has the potential to even become Chelsea’s first choice goalkeeper.

Djordje was signed by New England to replace Matt Turner in 2022. The 23-year old GK has earned a lot of appreciation for his consistently strong performances for New England. Within just one season, Petrovic has managed to earn the reputation of being ‘the best goalkeeper‘ in the MLS. Therefore, the Chelsea fans would be delighted to see such an incredible talent arrive at their club.

Chelsea’s priority is still to sign a striker. Their search for a striker has continued for the entire summer. Despite multiple strikers being linked to Chelsea over the course of this summer, the club has failed to sign anyone of them. Right now, a few strikers are reported to be on Chelsea’s radar. However, none of them are going to be easy signings for the club. Also, with the transfer budget for the summer almost exhausted, the possibility that Chelsea might fail to sign a prolific striker, with just 7 days left in the transfer window, will be a major concern for the club and their fans.
