Max Verstappen tops the timing charts as the first day of testing wraps up in Bahrain.

It seems like Max Verstappen has started the 2023 season where he left the last one. Max Verstappen once again topped the timings chart leading the first day of testing in Bahrain.

Drivers hit the track in Bahrain for the 2023 pre-season testing. All the teams opted for both drivers to drive different sessions. Red bull, however, gave Verstappen the wheel on both morning and afternoon sessions.

Current Premier League Standings

The Dutchman topped both sessions edging out Fernando Alonso by clocking a time of 1m 32.837s. Alonso came right behind the defending champion in his Aston Martin being just 0.029s behind Verstappen.

Ferrari also secured the top five position with both drivers securing third and fourth place. Charles Leclerc who drove the car in the afternoon session came fourth while Carlos Sainz secured third place.

Alonso’s counterpart and Formula 2 world champion Felipe Drugovich finished in 14th position after an initial problem with the car’s electrical system forced his run to end also causing a red flag. The 22-years old is replacing an injured Lance Stroll.

Mercedes duo Lewis Hamilton and George Russell wrapped the day in 6th and 9th position respectively.

Max Verstappen and Red bull are once again looking in red hot form. However, this is just the first day of testing. There is a lot yet to unfold not only in testing but also in the season. Till then sit tight.

That’s all from the first day of testing in Bahrain. Formula 1 will return tomorrow again.
