Former Academy coach Kevin Betsy informed Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta that USMNT international Florian Balogun need to improve one aspect of his game to progress.

Speaking in an interview with The Athletic, Betsy claimed that Arteta and his coaching staff are keeping an close eye on Balogun’s development. He said :-

“Albert (Stuivenberg) and Mikel would do a lot of his game reviews.”

“They were very clear in terms of what his development plan was. Flo needed to improve his hold-up and link-up because he was very good at running into space and finishing.”

“The other thing they wanted to improve was his reactions to start pressing.”

Balogun had a good run with Arsenal U-21 in the past and thrived whilst out on loan at Stade Reims last season. He scored 21 goals for the French outfit.

Due to his steller performance last term, Balogun has been under radar of few bigs clubs in Europe. Inter Milan are linked with a move, as they’re ready pay £50 million of his services.

The 22-year-old has improved lot of aspects of his game at France. Arsenal coaching staff are quite impressed with his progress.

Balogun is targetting regular game-time at Arsenal next season. He’s not being open to join another club on loan and thus stands in a complex situation.

Arsenal are going to face Manchester City for the FA Community Shield and it will be interesting to see wheather Balogun will available for that game.

Club supporters will not be happy to see their academy graduate leave the club at this point of his career.
