According to reports, Liverpool are monitoring the situation of Sofyan Amrabat at Manchester United. The 27-year-old midfielder is currently on loan from Fiorentina. Manchester United have an option of signing the midfielder permanently, however, considering his performance a permanent deal looks unlikely. The Moroccan international’s performance has been rather underwhelming at Old Trafford. Moreover, the midfielder has not been able to adapt to the Premier League yet. Amrabat clearly does not have a future at Fiorentina and Manchester United do not plan on signing him permanently. As a result, the 27-year-old will mostly be available this summer. Moreover, Amrabat’s performance received loads of criticism from football pundits and the media. The midfielder brought loads of expectations when he came to United, however, couldn’t keep up to them.

Football journalist Dean Jones said,

“You probably have to have him down as having one of the most disappointing years in 2023 across football, because the levels that we’ve seen previously of him and when he was talked about for his Morocco performances, the level of expectation and hype, especially as United pursued him all summer, you’re expecting big things.”

Jones further said that he was upset with Amrabat’s spell compared to all the hype that was present around him. However, it seems like a change is the only thing that could help the midfielder redeem himself at the moment.

What’s next for Sofyan Amrabat?

The Moroccan midfielder’s performance was exceptional in the 2022 World Cup. Amrabat was a massive contributor in helping his team reach the semi-finals. However, his move to Manchester United hasn’t worked out well. According to sources, the midfielder’s value is around £20 million, and Liverpool certainly have the funds to buy him. A combative midfielder like Amrabat might be a good pick for Liverpool as well as a great opportunity for Amrabat to prove his worth. It could turn out to be a perfect deal both ways, however, it depends on how the situation unfolds in the next few months. Furthermore, the midfielder is on the radar of Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, too.
