Arne Slot is planning to bring his assistant, Sipke Hulshoff, with him to Liverpool after a £9.4 million compensation deal was agreed with Feyenoord.

Slot has made it clear that he is keen to replace Jurgen Klopp as Liverpool manager and after the two clubs stepped up negotiations over a deal this week, an agreement was reached on Friday.

Feyenoord initially rejected Liverpool’s offer of £7.7m as a compensation fee but the Premier League club added a further £1.7m in add-ons, which was deemed acceptable by the Eredivisie side.

According to The Times, Slot is planning to bring several members of his Feyenoord coaching staff to Anfield this summer, including his assistant, Hulshoff, and his head of performance, Ruben Peeters. Slot is also keen to bring his Feyenoord analyst, Etienne Reijnen.

Hulshoff already has experience with coaching Virgil van Dijk, Cody Gakpo, and Ryan Gravenberch during his time as assistant under Ronald Koeman with Netherlands’ national side.

Arne Slot might not get his full team at Liverpool

Speaking about Hulshoff in March last year, Van Dijk said: ‘Of course I didn’t know Sipke Hulshoff before this, you have to get to know each other, you see what his qualities are and I personally certainly like that.

‘Hopefully he can continue that well. He is very clear and tactically strong. I like the moments when he leads a training session. I think I also speak for the group. We’re only four days into it, but it’s a good start.’

Klopp, meanwhile, has impressed with Slot making it clear that he wants the Liverpool job.

‘I like a lot about it,’ Klopp said.

‘If he is the one, he wants to take the job. Really. He is desperate: ‘Come on, let’s go for it’. He is excited.

‘I like the way his team plays football. All the things I hear about him as a guy, a good guy. Some people I know know him, I don’t know him yet.
