Manchester City midfielder is approaching the final year of his contract with no talks about an extension

Manchester City

Kevin De Bruyne is approaching the final year of his current contract with Manchester City. The contract expires in 2025 with no conversations for an extension in sight. Last summer, the 32-year-old got attention from Saudi Arabia, but he chose to stay at Man City. However, the Saudi clubs could reignite their interest in the upcoming transfer window. Despite De Bruyne’s age and fitness struggles, he is a significant player for Pep Guardiola. The midfielder missed a major part of the season due to a hamstring injury, however, he has been impressive since his return. Manchester City could decide the midfielder’s future based on how the next few weeks play out. However, according to reports, the 32-year-old is considering options from other clubs.

What does the future hold for Kevin De Bruyne?

The Belgian international has been impressive since his return from his long-standing injury. De Bruyne already has three goals and six assists to his name in 12 appearances in the Premier League. Moreover, his four-assist haul in the FA Cup tie against Luton Town was impressive. The midfielder scored two goals and provided one assist in two Champions League appearances as well. Despite being so significant, De Bruyne could be making an exit from Man City.

While speaking of Kevin De Bruyne’s future, football journalist David Ornstein said,

“As far as I know (Manchester) City want De Bruyne to stay, but that doesn’t mean he will. The player himself will need to make a decision – if he hasn’t already – on what he wants to do.”

Manchester City and Pep Guardiola will surely want Kevin De Bruyne to stay, however, the midfielder is considering other offers. The 32-year-old will surely gain a huge offer no matter which club he goes to. This will also help Man City get some relief from their financial issues.
