Indian spin wizard, Axar Patel breaks into the top 20 bowlers list of the ICC T20 rankings. Axar was the leading wicket-taker in the recently concluded T20 series against Australia. He was included in the squad as a replacement for Ravindra Jadeja, who missed out owing to a knee injury. He finished the series as India’s most economical bowler.
Moreover, Suraykumar Yadav dethroned Pakistani skipper Babar Azam and claimed the no. 2 spot on the top 10 batters chart. Mohammad Rizwan retained his top spot after an impressive show against England in the ongoing bilateral series.
After a successful outing against Australia, Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya has entered the top 5 of the all-rounder charts. Hardik put up a good performance and took India over the finish line on several occasions. With 184 points, he is tied with Wanindu Hasaranga. Afghanistan captain Mohammad Nabi is currently at number one in the all-rounder rankings.
India and Pakistan are the top gainers in the revised ICC T20 rankings
Indian and Pakistani players are the top gainers in the latest T20 rankings. Both Asian giants are simultaneously dominating in the respective bilateral series. Pakistan is hosting England for a 7-match T20 series, whereas, India recently defeated Australia in a 3-match T20 series.
Babar Azam, despite a magnificent hundred against England in the second game, slipped to the third position. Harry Brook, a young Englishman, has registered the biggest jump in the latest rankings. He jumped 118 places and is now ranked 29th. Brook scored two thirties and one fifty in the last three T20 internationals against Pakistan. Aaron Finch has risen to fifth place following a blistering knock against India in the second T20.
The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 will commence on 15th October in Australia. The teams are having a marathon of the T20 bilateral series to prepare for the major event. Hence, these rankings are major confidence boosters for the players going into the main event.
