South Africa is currently touring India for 3 t20i and 3 ODI. South Africa started the campaign with a defeat from the host. Indian bowlers disturbed the batting unit and restricted them to a low score, winning the first match convincingly. Indian bowlers were praised but at the same time, their batting unit was also questioned. Among this Quinton De Kock, the form was also raised. Former South African opener Herschelle Gibbs recommended making De Kock unavailable from playing 11 in the 2nd match. He is also an integral part of the t20 world cup squad.

Quinton de Kock’s low strings in t20 continues

In some last t20 matches, his performance was not up to the mark. He played 13 t20i since last year’s world cup and scored only 137 runs at an average of 11. In the first t20i against he got out on a very low score. He plays as an opener and is very reliable for the Proteas. Eying to this year’s t20 world cup, his form is a matter of concern. In the t20s he plays with a strike rate of 133 and averages 30. This shows he has cumbersome talent. He is an integral part of playing XI.

Gibbs statement:

” The difference in yesterdays t20 was Indian bowlers swung it ours didn’t and their batters played conditions smarter … reeza in for quinny next game. He (De Kock) hasn’t made runs .. reeza must jol. He is (in a) comfort zone … dropping him will be a good shake up. Nobody is irreplaceable,” he posted. “Reeza for last 2 t20 games and let quinny find some form in the odi series. Nothing wrong with the deck.. india batted smarter and won comfortably in the end. Remember t20 is about batters improvising irrespective if the ball swings or not. It’s your duty and skill to find a way of scoring in any conditions. “
