With the FA Youth Cup draw for the next round and semi-finals done and dusted, Chelsea under 18s have learned their route to the FA Youth Cup final.

Chelsea U18s were once again one of the favorites to lift the trophy yet again this term. Chelsea have lifted the FA Youth Cup trophy nine times before this season. The blues last lifted the trophy back in 2018. Aston Villa lifted the FA Youth Cup 2021. Chelsea suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Everton in the 5th round of the FA Youth Cup last term.

The blues defeat Leyton Orient U-18s 4-1 in the 3rd round of the Youth Cup on 12th December last year. While they narrowly beat Watford U-18s 3-2 in the 4th round of the competition last month. The most impressive victory came in the 5th round. Chelsea U-18s defeated one of the favorites and last season’s finalist in Liverpool U-18s.

Liverpool looked comfortable and had one foot into the next round of the Youth Cup with a 3-0 lead with just 20 minutes to go. Luke Chambers, Kaide Gordon, and Oakley put the home side three goals in front. But Chelsea managed to crawl three goals back late on in the game. Charlie Webster scored in the 70th minute to make the scoreline 3-1.  Jude Soonsup-Bell scored the second in the 77th minute. Malik Maine Mothersille leveled proceedings in the 87th minute. The blues went on to win the game deep into extra time with Tudor Mendel-Idowu scoring in the fifth minute of injury time and handing Chelsea U-18s the victory.

FA Youth Cup draw

Chelsea drew Blackpool in the quarter-finals. The clash is scheduled to go ahead on 24th February. While the winner of the clash will face either Blackburn Rovers or Nottingham Forrest. On the other side of the draw, Manchester United face Leicester City. The winner of that clash will face either Wolverhampton Wanderers or Brighton & Hove Albion.

The blues have a very good chance of bringing the FA Youth Cup trophy back to Stamford Bridge at the end of this season. While Thomas Tuchel and the Chelsea senior squad will be looking forward to their clash against Liverpool. The blues take on Liverpool in the EFL Cup final on 27th February.
