Ferrari has officially revealed their 2023 car – the SF23.

On the occasion of Valentine’s Day, Ferrari unveiled their 2023 title challenger. In a somewhat expected revelation, the car spotted Ferrari’s iconic red livery design.

Originally, the car was under the project name of project number ‘675’. However, Ferrari went on to name the 2023 car by the same convention they are using since the 2015 season. Hence, the 2023 car received the name ‘SF-23’.

The car was unveiled in a special presentation at the team’s Maranello headquarters. New team principal Frederic Vasseur was also present to oversee the reveal. Fred Vasseur replaced Mattia Binotto during the winter break amid many speculations and concerns against the old boss. Regardless, the two drivers – Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz continue their tenure with the Scuderia.

Vasseur seems positive for the season ahead

During the presentation, Fred Vasseur shared his thoughts on the upcoming season and the outlook of the team:

“It’s always emotional for a team to do the launch. My contribution is very small on this one, but I can perfectly feel the work done on the car.

“Now it will be a new journey for the project, because the car will move to the race team. It’s a great feeling; when you are back on track, it’s like when you are back at school.

“I can feel that everybody is very proud of the job done and this feeling is very important for the motivation of everybody and for the season. It will be a quite long season, but the motivation is there and it’s crucial in terms of performance.”

Ferrari last won the Drivers’ Championship back in 2007 and the last constructor title in the following season. Since then it has been numerous close calls and great starts but never a great ending to a season for the Scuderia. The 2022 season was also an example of Ferrari’s problem to compete in a long season.

Can Ferrari finally overcome their problems? Vasseur has stressed that this time the team “has to deliver“.
