Conor Coady could led Leicester City take a financial blow

Leicester City

Leicester City are flying high in EFL Championship with promotion to Premier League in sight. However they can still face a financial setback due to an Add-on clause on Conor Coady from Wolves. Leicester City will now hope to get the best out of Conor Coady.

Conor Coady Leicester City Add-on Clause gives Wolves a boost

Coady signed for Leicester last summer for a deal reported to be worth an initial £7.5million. Sky Sports also reported that the deal included a £1million add-on clause. Despite the details of the contract not being clear it is supposed to have clause based on promotion to the Premier League. Wolves who are currently at 11th place in the Premier League could really benifit from the Foxes promotion.

Add-on clauses can also include personal achievements by the player or reaching a set number of appearances or goals, but it can be assumed the clause of promotion. Coady suffered an injury early to his season however after his return he made 11 appearances with only 7 starts. This is quite underwhelming for the fans who think Wolves got the better half of the deal.

Coady has got plenty of time and chances to prove his price tag after signing a 3 year deal. His experience in the attack will be needed by Leicester City next season in the Premier League. Looking at the long term Leicester City fans can hope this turn out as a investment. Next season which can mark their return to Premier League will be a big one as they hope to repeat their miracle season.

Wolves may look like the winning party if they are to receive a seven-figure sum as a result of Leicester earning promotion, but the deal is still in its infancy and may well prove to be a smart move come the beginning of next season.
