Ajax FC defender Jurrien Timber is close to joining the Gunners this summer, according to SkySports reporter Florian Plettenberg.

Plettenberg suggested that Timber could cost around £46m(£40m) for Arsenal this summer. Gunners have almost completed the deal to sign the Dutch full-back.

According to Dean Jones, Arsenal are taking interest in bringing another creative player as a backup Bukayo Saka. However, that’s not the main priority for manager Mikel Arteta at this moment.

West Ham star Declan Rice is close to joining the club this summer. But Gunners insider has suggested that they’ll like to bring another midfielder with slightly ‘different profile’.

Arsenal are keeping an eye on Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni as they want a defensive midfielder in their ranks. Granit Xhaka and Thomas Partey will leave the club this summer.

According to Plettenberg’s Twitter handle, the deal is almost done for Timber and with last details on the verge being clarified. The total agreement is expected to be completed within the next 48 hours.

Timber has made 166 apperances for Ajax FC as a cente-back, but he is also capable of playing at the right-side of defence. He is similar player to England international Ben White.

This indicates that the 22-year-old could be suitable competitions for the likes of Takehiro Tomiyasu and Ben White at the right back position.

Jurrien Timber ranks in the 99th percentile for a total of five different metrics, indicating he would be fantastic fit in the Arteta’s system.
