Gabriel Magalhaes did not make it to many games in the beginning of the season, but Campbell predicts a change.
The £25 million player did not see much play at the beginning of the season which was concerning to many. However Mikel Arteta has redeployed Magalhaes again to face Manchester united, and is likely to see more play later on.
Still, this could have changed earlier this Friday, where the 25 year old sustained an injury while facing against Brazil. Luckily for both the fans and the player, the injury was not a muscle pull but rather an impact trauma. Meaning that Magalhaes will make a swift recovery and will be back on the pitch in less than a month.
Which is good news as the former Arsenal professional Kevin Campbell sees that the man is vital to the team.
The value of Magalhaes in the eyes of Kevin Campbell
During the charity stream for the Gooner Pod, Kevin Campbell made it clear that Magalhaes should participate in every game.
“I want Gabrielle and Saliba to play every game. I do but Mikel Arteta knows against certain teams you can get away with not playing Gabrielle and I’m sure there’s going to be times where Saliba doesn’t play later on in the season because you’re gonna have to manage minutes Etc.” The Arsenal veteran explained 8 hours into the stream.
Indeed, while the player is an absolute necessity against higher ranking teams, he can rest if the opponent are manageable. And considering the sheer amount of injured Arsenal players this season alone, resting vital players is a completely understandable tactic.
As such, despite the absence at the start of the season, Campbell believes Magalhaes will contribute more down the line.
