Leicester City interested in Montpellier striker Stephy Mavididi

Leicester City

Newly relegated side Leicester City are among the clubs interested in signing Montpellier striker Stephy Mavididi, as per Football Insider report.

Born in Derby, Mavididi started his career at Southend United before joining Arsenal at the age of 13. He is known name to some Football League followers, as the 25-year-old spent loan spells at Charlton Athletic and Preston North End.

Mavididi then joined Juventus in 2018, but he wouldn’t really get a look in with the Italian Giants. However, now the striker has made a name for himself in France with Montpellier since 2020.

The English striker has made total 98 apperances for the Ligue 1 outfit, scoring 21 goals and 5 asists so far. Last term, he scored 2 goals and assisted two in 26 league apperances.

Now, as per Football Insider, Leicester City, Lille and Club Brugge are all planning to sign Mavididi this summer. After relegation from Premier League last season, Foxes are planning to bring in some new wingers.

After leaving Arsenal in 2018, Mavididi has gone and made a name for himself in Europe. It was obviously a big risk for a young player, but he has made quite progression in last few years.

Leicester City needs attacking reinforcement this summer after loosing James Maddinson to Tottenham Hotspur. Harvey Barnes might also leave the club. Newly appointed manager Enzo Maresca needs a player like Mavididi who can score and create goals for his team.

But it will be difficult move for the Foxes as they’ll face competition from other clubs.
