LIVERPOOL

LFC Co owner questions Van Dijk’s red card decision

Linda Pizzuti

LFC Co owner Linda Pizzuti was delighted with club’s historic victory against Newcastle United in Sunday, however she questions Virgil van Dijk’s red card decision in the first-half.

John Henry’s wife and partner at Fenway Sports Group, Pizzuti criticised referee’s decision to send Van Dijk off at the early stages of the game. The Dutch International was shown a controversial red card for a tackle against Newcastle forward Alexender Isak in the first-half.

Referee John Brooks decision was a point of debate among the supporters in social media. However, Liverpool came back from behind as Darwin Nunez scored two goals for the away side.

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe is still winless against Klopp in last 11 games. Liverpool still remain unbeaten in last 3 games.

After the victory, Pizzuti posted Instagram and wrote :-

“Incredible. Only 10 players, already behind, and Liverpool takes 3 points on the road with relentless play yielding a beautiful brace from Darwin.

“After almost 13 years, perhaps I just don’t understand what makes a red card?”

Liverpool supporters urge the club hierarchy to bring more reinforcement this summer as only five days are there in this transfer window. Reds still need a defender for this current campaign.

FSG has already spent over £110 in this transfer window to bring the likes Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai and Wataru Endo. Thers is still need of new left-footed centre-back in the squad.

The deadline day is on Friday and LFC needs to act fast in their transfer proceedings.
