Manchester City seems to play without John Stones in their upcoming games. City will be facing their arch-rivals Arsenal this week at The Emirates Stadium. The defending champions will be keen on securing all the three points from the game. Owing to their defeats against Newcastle United in the EFL cup and Wolves in the Premier League, Pep will love to get back on winning track. However, they managed to secure a win against Leipzig in the Champions League in the midweek.
John Stones was on the bench for City against RB Leipzig. However, Guardiola has said that Stones, who is also able to play as a midfielder, will not start against Arsenal. When asked about the availability of Stones, Pep said on the club’s official website,
“No. He’s not ready to play. Maybe for the national team, but not us.”
Manchester City must not risk playing Stones before full recovery. The Premier League title race will not be decided on Sunday. Though, it is a bad news regarding Stones. After all, the 29-year-old is one of the best players at City and is at the top of his game at the moment. But, City have to think of the long term rather than focusing on one particular game.
