The Red Devils’ quest for a new man at the helm after a series of disappointing results under the Dutchman has had an interesting development. The current England boss Gareth Southgate is amongst the favorites to replace Ten Hag beyond the end of the season.

Manchester United have been poor under Erik Ten Hag this season. Yes, they may be inflicted with numerous injuries, yet their coach’s methods hasn’t done United any good this season. The Red Devils were once in contention for qualifying for the next season’s UEFA Champions League but now sit 8th.

United fans are covering their eyes in horror as the Red Devils are now second-favorites to secure a UEFA Conference League spot in the next season.

Man United eyeing Gareth Southgate

With the series of changes under INEOS, the Red Devils will be onlooking for a new manager. Especially, since Erik Ten Hag has failed to deliver.

Manchester United have no confirmation yet but talks are underway for Southgate’s appointment. A deal is yet to be signed as Gareth Southgate will be leading England to the EURO 2024.

United will be hoping to acquire Southgate’s services soon after the EURO 2024. Many candidates have been linked to the managerial role. However, Southgate’s familiarity with players like Marcus Rashford, Harry Maguire, and Mason Mount might give him an edge. Gareth also handed Kobbie Mainoo his international debut in recent weeks.

Is Gareth right for United?

Gareth Southgate may have done well for England since his appointment. However, he has failed to win any major trophies for the three Lions. Southgate may have propelled England to be the favorites for EURO 2024, but his results are still unconvincing.

United need trophies and Gareth’s lack of experience will definitely be a factor in his appointment. His starting lineups have so far been unimpressive for the fans given the abundant talent that England possess.

Is Southgate the man for United? Time will tell. Nobody can deny that he has done a fine job with England but the trophies have evaded him. United needs someone who can win them silverware.
