Liverpool look to rebuild as Jurgen Klopp will be leaving Anfield with one game to go. Klopp shocked the world in January 2024 with his plans of quitting as Liverpool manager at the end of the season. Liverpool will be undergoing several changes with Klopp’s exit.

Xabi Alonso was the frontrunner to replace Klopp at Liverpool. The Spaniard is having a record-breaking season with Bayer Leverkusen. Leverkusen under Alonso are unbeaten in 50 games in all competitions. They have already clinched the Meisterschale and are on the road to finish the Bundesliga as ‘The Invincibles’. Alonso could also be winning a historic treble with Leverkusen still in contention for UEFA Europa League and DFB Pokal. However, the Spaniard decided to stay at Leverkusen for another season.

Subsequently, Ruben Amorim was next on Liverpool’s list. The Portuguese won the Liga Portugal with Sporting CP this season. Liverpool had reportedly agreed personal terms with Amorim even then the move collapsed and The Reds pulled out of the negotiations.

After failing to poach Ruben Amorim due to Sporting’s President’s high demands, Arne Slot will be replacing the German. The Dutchman joined Feyenoord in 2021. Slot won the Eredivisie with Feyenoord in 2022-23, just one season with the club. Feyenoord are currently 2nd in Eredivisie this campaign with 81 points. They will be finishing behind PSV. Although losing out on the Eredivisie, Slot’s side have won the KNVB Cup this season.

Liverpool have already reached an agreement with Feyenoord over Arne Slot. The Dutchman’s appointment will be made official after Jurgen Klopp’s farewell.

Waves of Vacancies at Anfield!

Liverpool center back Joel Matip will be leaving The Reds as a free agent at the end of the season. Additionally, Thiago Alcantara’s contract will also not be extended. Injuries plagued the Spaniard as he leaves Anfield. Moreover, Adrian spoke about his desire to move to LaLiga as the season concludes. The 37-year old could be joining Real Betis as Claudio Bravo’s replacement.

Not just players, Liverpool’s coaching staff also has plenty of vacancies. Andreas Kornmayer, Head of Fitness and Conditioning, could be leaving The Reds.

Pepijn Lijnders and Peter Kraweitz, Assistant Managers, have already confirmed their departure. Vitor Matos, Elite Development Coach, will also be leaving Anfield. Linders and Matos will be joining RB Leipzig. Andreas Schlumberger is expected to leave one year prior to his contract expiry.

Meanwhile, Jorge Schmadtke has already vacated his position as Sporting Director. Additionally, Jack Robinson, Assistant Goalkeeping Coach, could be leaving The Reds. John Achterberg will be joining Steven Gerrard in Saudi. Moreover, Claudio Taffarel’s future at Liverpool is uncertain.

Liverpool look to rebuild as Post-Klopp era dawns!

Incoming manager Arne Slot will be bringing Ruben Peeters, Etienne Reijen and Sipke Hulshoff at Anfield. Rejien and Hulshoff were Assistant Managers at Feyenoord. Whereas, Peeters has handled the role of Performance Manager.

Hulshoff could be assisting Slot at Anfield. Especially, considering Hulshoff’s familiarity with some of the Dutch players in The Reds’ squad from his working with Ronald Koeman at The Oranje.

Liverpool will be keen to rebuild as The Reds will be actively participating in the summer transfer window. Slot will be hoping to hit the ground running at Anfield and settle in.

What’s next for Liverpool?’

While an exciting new adventure dawns on the Merseyside Reds, all eyes would be focused on Liverpool’ final game of the season against Wolves.
