Mikel Arteta still wants Romeo Lavia to join them this summer

Manager Mikel Arteta still wants Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia to join his squad this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano.

According to Italian journalist, Gunners are still interested in Lavia and he remains in the on their shortlist. The midfielder is one of the “go to target” for Arsenal this summer.

Arsenal have been very busy in this transfer market, as their recruitment team have barely been able to catch their breath over the past few weeks. Gunners have already signed Chelsea forward Kai Havertz for £60 million and they’re also closing in a deal for both Declan Rice and Jurrien Timber.

Mikel Arteta wants to rebuild his squad to match up with other Premier league teams, especially with Manchester City. Mikel Arteta’s side will also play in the Champions League this season, which adds more pressure on his shoulder

Midfield remains a priority for Arsenal as both Granit Xhaka and Thomas Partey are going to exit. Romeo Lavia is the man Gunners need to fill in this void.

Transfer Pundit Fabrizio Romano claims that Lavia remains on the “shortlist” for Gunners. He said :-

“We already told you last week that Romeo Lavia is in Arsenal’s list, that Arsenal had some positive conversations on club and player’s side, but still no official bid.

“We know the priority is to resolve other stuff, like Timber, Rice and many others. Of course, Havertz will be official, but, guys, it is important to say that Romeo Lavia remains in Arsenal’s list as one of the players they appreciate.

“So, Romeo Lavia is in Arsenal’s list, but Liverpool have opened talks to sign Romeo Lavia.”
