Senegalese forward shares Manchester United dream

Paul Valere Bassene has opened up about Manchester United being his dream club. The Senegalese currently plays in Morocco for RS Berkane.

Manchester United haven’t really lived up to their glorious standards since the departure of legendary Sir Alex Ferguson. It has been a decade since they last won the Premier League. For some context, Manchester United are the club with richest history in the Premier League.

Even after hitting record breaking lows and undergoing trophyless seasons, players from over the world are still as keen to join The Red Devils.

Manchester United’s unreal influence

United’s influence over the years is simply undeniable. Andre Onana joined The Red Devils from Inter Milan, despite having helped them to the 2023 Champions League Final. The Cameroonian international could’ve stayed with Inter and enjoyed top level football in Serie A.

Rasmus Hojlund also rejected an offer from PSG to play for United. The former Atalanta player snubbed the French Champions to make a name for himself at Old Trafford.

Sofyan Amrabat impressed a lot of clubs with his performances in World Cup 2022 with Morocco. However, Amrabat only wanted United move and was successful after joining the Red Devils on a loan move from Fiorentina.

Manchester United haven’t only influenced the players. Despite having their worst ever top-flight season finish, The Red Devils continue to draw attention. Reports suggest that Thomas Tuchel is ready to make his Premier League return and join as Manchester United manager. If Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS decide to sack Erik Ten Hag, Tuchel could be a great option.

The German coach has proven himself in the league with Chelsea. He also won the UEFA Champions League with the Blues against Manchester City, United’s bitter rivals.

The Red Devils’ extraordinary legacy: A legend in itself

Manchester United are the most successful club in Premier League’s history. The Red Devils have 13 Premier League titles to their name and have occupied the 2nd place on the table 7 times.

Manchester United also became the first English team to win a continental treble in 1998/99 season. A feat only equalized by their local rivals Manchester City in the 2022/23 campaign. The Red Devils top the Premier League’s all time standings with 2,501 points. They are still the competition’s best over scorers having scored 2,300 goals!

United’s players have further enriched the club’s legacy with records of their own. Ryan Giggs is the 3rd highest appearance maker, also being the league’s best ever provider with 162 assists. Wayne Rooney is the league’s 3rd all time top scorer with 208 goals. Additionally, David De Gea is 4th on the all time clean sheets’ list with 147.

Moreover, all 13 of Manchester United’s Premier League titles were won by the competition’s most successful manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

Paul Valere Bassene’s Manchester United dream!

Bassene has opened up about his desire to play for The Red Devils even if his current goal is to do the best for his club. The forward stated:

“RS Berkane represents a real benchmark. It is one of the best African clubs. The Moroccan championship presents a high level. I have played 13 matches and scored five goals so far because I was injured.

If offers are available, it is likely that I will change clubs. First of all, we will strive to finish in third place in the championship and win the CAF Cup. I also want to add more goals in my career.

Manchester United is the European club I want to play for in the future.”

United unlikely to move for Bassene

While Manchester United are the dream club of many, it is not easy to get a spot at the Theatre of Dreams. The Red Devils will be looking for a winger in the market. Especially, after Antony failing to live up to his big money signing.

United were linked to Club Brugge’s, Antonio Nusa and PSV Eindhoven’s, Johan Bakayoko. However, The Red Devils now consider Crystal Palace star, Michael Olise, as top target to replace the Brazilian. Olise had 16 G/A in 19 appearances for The Eagles.

Fabrizio Romano also told about Olise’s interest on joining Manchester United. The journalist said:

“I’m sure that the player would be really keen on joining Manchester United.

That’s 100 per cent guaranteed. But (Man United) won’t be the only club.”
