5 reasons why Manchester City were able to do a Premier League 4-Peat!

Manchester City have won the Premier League for a record 4-times in a row! The Citizens won the title after beating West Ham 3-1 at the Etihad Stadium. City engaged in an epic title race with Arsenal until the final matchday, when the former came out on top.

Pep Guardiola’s side finished two points above The Gunners at the summit with 91 points. The only way City were to be denied was if they lost points and Arsenal win against Everton. Although Mikel Arteta’s side did their job, City delivered yet again! A Phil Foden brace along with Rodri’s effort in the second half gave City a two goal cushion and secure the league title.

Here’s 5 reasons why Manchester City were able to do a 4-peat in Europe’s best league!

#1 Pep Guardiola Masterclass!

Pep Guardiola’s tactics have been on the spot this season as they so often are. City have clinched their sixth Premier League title under Guardiola! Additionally, The Spaniard has won 17 titles in all competitions with City.

Newcastle knocked City out of the EFL Cup earlier this season while The Citizens were unlucky in the Champions League Quarter Finals against Real Madrid. The Manchester Blues lost to Madrid on penalties after producing a thriller over the two legs. However, City can still win the FA Cup final in the upcoming Manchester derby against The Red Devils.

#2 Goalscoring prowess of Manchester City in the league!

Manchester City have been absolutely lethal on the attack. Erling Haaland scored 27 goals in the league to secure 2nd consecutive golden boot. Phil Foden won the Premier League’s Player of the Season with the Englishman having 27 G/A this season.

The Citizens scored 96 premier league goals this season having a goal difference of 62! Only Arsenal have a similar goal difference. Moreover, Julian Alvarez played incredibly in De Bruyne’s absence in the early part of the season managing 19 G/A.

#3 Incredible squad depth!

Influx of cash has made City a formidable force to be reckoned with. Especially, City’s squad oozes quality housing world class players like Haaland, De Bruyne, Rodri, Bernardo Silva, Foden and many more.

Quality players like Mateo Kovacic can’t even make a place in the starting XI! Additionally, City’s defensive depth since the signing of Gvardiol has flourished! Be it young players like Oscar Bobb or Rico Lewis or be it the experience of veterans like Stefan Ortega, The Citizens have quality and depth all over the field.

#4 De Bruyne’s recovery and AFCON & Asian Cup timings!

Kevin De Bruyne was injured for some part of the season early on. However, The Belgian’s recovery strengthened City back to their brilliant best. The midfielder managed 14 G/A in just 18 appearances this season showing that he can still produce the goods for the Citizens.

Additionally, while 39 players left Premier League to participate in AFCON and Asian Cup this season, City witnessed no absentees. However, this greatly affected squad depth of other teams. With City on full form, teams like Liverpool and Arsenal who were challenging for the top spot saw their key players leave. For context, Mohamed Salah and Wataru Endo were absent from Liverpool while The Gunners witnessed Mohamed Elneny and Takehiro Tomiyasu’s absence.

This overlapping of competitions probably turned the tides in City’s favor, once again edging the Manchester blues closer to the title!

#5 Unbeatable Manchester City: Consistency the Key!

Consistency has been the key for Manchester City in the Premier League. While teams like Liverpool and Arsenal have cracked under pressure, The Citizens have always delivered in key moments. The Manchester blues are unbeaten at home since November 2022 over a run of 30 games!

With Guardiola already assuring that he will stay for another season, who can possibly stop Manchester City from winning the league again in 2025?
