Shaka Hislop has suggested that David Raya has been a better player than United’s Andre Onana this season. Raya is having a much great start to the campaign than the Manchester United star. Hislop was speaking to ESPN FC after being asked about who has a better go for the season. He said,

“Onana started slowly for Manchester United. I don’t think that’s all his fault at all.”

Raya started on the bench for Arsenal, has found himself in the starting XI and I don’t think he’s done anything wrong in all honesty. It’s been a solid start from him so that was easy.”

David Raya was a surprise signing for Arsenal in the summer. The Spanish came at a time when Ramsdale was seeming to be the undisputed first choice between the sticks for Gunners. Meanwhile, Onana joined Manchester United for £47m following the exit of David De Gea. It seemed to be a good move for the Red Devils as Onana just played the UCL final with Inter Milan as their first choice keeper.

However, it has not been a dream start for the Cameroonian. He has made some big blunders and is not convincing since the move. Though, Raya has got himself as the first choice starting last four out of five games. Moreover, Arteta wanted Raya to join the Emirates as he wanted more from Aaron Ramsdale. Many fans even threw their support when the speculation started. It has also been a report that Raya is becoming the first choice for Mikel Arteta. Though, it will be a debate for sure in the upcoming long season.
