Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara’s potential departure from the club during the summer transfer window cannot be ruled out, according to sources at Football Insider.

Football Insider previously reported that a potential move for the 32-year-old had been put on hold. Due to the imminent departures of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho. This would leave Jurgen Klopp’s side with a significant midfield shortage.

However, it is clear that Liverpool would be open to allowing Thiago to leave Anfield if the right circumstances arise.

A well-informed source reveals that Liverpool may be receptive to letting the midfielder go due to his injury concerns.

The financial offers from Saudi Arabian clubs, who have shown interest in acquiring Thiago’s services. This could prove tempting for the Reds.

However, before sanctioning Thiago’s departure. Liverpool would need to reinforce their midfield by making new signings as part of their highly anticipated squad rebuild.

Liverpool looking to Bring in More Midfielders

The club and manager Klopp are eager to bring in two additional midfielders once the departures of Fabinho and Henderson take place.

Liverpool’s midfield options are already very less because of the departures of Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and James Milner at the end of their respective contracts.

Thiago made 28 appearances across all competitions last season, starting in 21 of those matches.

Since joining Liverpool in 2020 from Bayern Munich, the former Barcelona midfielder has struggled with fitness issues.

Thiago’s contract is going to expire in less than 12 months. And so, he is getting interest from Barcelona as well as the Saudi League.

It is highly likely that Thiago might leave Liverpool this summer. If he were to receiver a lucrative offer from any of the big clubs in Europe. And It is because, it’s not just Thiago’s decision but the Club’s decision as well.
