Steve Nicol claims signing Sofyan Amrabat will be great for Liverpool

LFC legend Steve Nicol claims that signing Moroccan international Sofyan Amrabat this summer will be a great news for the Mersyside club.

As per SkySports Italy report, Reds are in discussion with Fiorentina for signing the Amrabat in this transfer window. Nicol was quite impressed with the 26-year-old at the FIFA World Cup 2022 held in Qatar.

Hence discussing about Reds interested in signing Amrabat this summer on ESPN, Steve Nicol said :-

“I’m a big fan of his. Haven’t seen a lot of him since the World Cup but I know that in the World Cup, he was a player that I had not heard of before but was absolutely impressive.”

“He just did exactly what was needed at the time defensively and did it to a huge standard that I thought he stuck out big time in the World Cup. So if [Jurgen] Klopp has been talking to him and there’s a possibility of getting him, then that’s great news.”

However, it face tough competation from rivals Manchester United for Amrabat’s signature. Sky Sports claims that the Moroccan international is also under their radar.

Gaffer Jurgen Klopp has been interested in Amrabat for a long time now. But the German will face competition from big clubs across Europe.

Amrabat came into limelight due to his expliots in the FIFA World Cup 2022. He recorded 2.3 tackles per game in the whole tournament.

With both Fabinho and Jordan Henderson left the clu, Reds are in a urgent need of a new holding midfielder this summer. Amrabat will be proper replacement for both the legends at Anfield this season.
