Thiago Silva to leave Chelsea this summer and join Fluminense

According to reliable source Fabrizio Romano, Thiago Silva will join Fluminense in the summer as a free agent. He announced his departure from Stamford Bridge recently.

After four years in the Premier League, including a 2020/21 Champions League victory, Silva’s time will conclude with the expiry of his contract this summer, having previously featuring for Paris Saint-Germain.

Recently, while expressing gratitude to the Blues fans and holding back tears, the Brazilian Thiago Silva revealed his intention to return to the club in a different capacity someday. Romano has now confirmed his next moves.

Following the news, there has been speculation about future of Silva, particularly considering his age—he’s 39 and turning 40 in September. Concerns about his suitability for top-flight football have emerged.

Fluminense will give a warm welcome to Thiago Silva

Romano has disclosed a sensational return to former club Fluminense for Silva. He’ll sign a one-year deal as a free agent, with a ‘verbal agreement’ in place between the clubs. Signing is expected in the coming week.

The Brazil international with 113 caps will join his new team in July. MailOnline reports a presentation at Rio de Janeiro’s Maracana stadium to celebrate the memorable return of Thiago Silva.

Fluminense reportedly faced competition from European and Saudi Arabian clubs for Silva. There were even reports of offers from three London clubs following news of the departure of Thiago Silva. Chelsea will need to address the departure of Silva with a proper backup for the Brazillian.
