Arsenal Goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale put on a brilliant performance against Brentford as manager Mikel Arteta left impressed with his outing.

Gunners goes to the fourth round of EFL Cup with a 1:0 win at Gtech Community Shield. Few changes were made in the starting line-up. The likes of Emile Smith Rowe, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Jakub Kiwior and Aaron Ramsdale started for Arsenal.

Reiss Nelson’s early goal in the first-half proved to be the only decisive goal of the match. Arteta’s squad dominated the possession as Brentford struggled to find their feat.

Meanwhile, Ramsdale made his return to the starting line-up after he was dropped due to David Raya’s entry into the squad this summer. The 25-year-old has been ever present between the sticks over the past couple of seasons at Emirates.

However, he put on a solid performance against Brentford as Arteta is quite happy with his outing. Both the keepers will be fighting for their spot this season.

Speaking to the media, Arteta is left impressed with Ramsdale’s performance last night. He said :-

“He’s been exceptional around the place, with the situation and like everybody, like Jakub, he played really well, Tomiyasu, Jorgi, after what happened three days ago.

He reacted and played a really good game.

“Reiss, who hasn’t started many games, scoring the goal with Emile, and for Charles it was a big day for him.

It’s great to have an academy player with us. A lot of positives to take, but as always, a lot of things to improve as well.”

But it will be interesting to see wheather Aaron Ramsdale starts in a Premier League game this week. Arteta might insist for Raya
