Welsh midfielder Aaron Ramsey will return to his boyhood club Cardiff City, as he completes his medical with the club on Thursday.

According to transfer pundit Fabrizio Romano, Ramsey has reached an agreement with the Championship side. He’ll join the club on a free transfer from OGC Nice on a free transfer.

As per BBC, Ramsey is now close to completing the move, having undertaken a medical with Cardiff on Saturday. However, the Championship club is under transfer ban after defaulting on a initial payment of Emiliano Sala’s £15 transfer fee. They’re not allowed to sign players on free transfer.

Back in June, Ramsey claimed that he wants to return back to his family in Welsh. He said :-

“For sure one day I would love to go back there [Cardiff City].

“It’s where I grew up and them giving me that opportunity and platform to go on to what I have achieved so far in my career, I will forever be grateful.

“The most important thing for me is to enjoy my time off now with my family and to make the right decision going forward for us.”

This would be Ramsey’s third stint with Cardiff, the club from which he was signed by Arsenal back in 2008. In 2011, he again went to The Bluebirds to regain his fitness back.

Aaron Ramsey has then went on to play for Juventus, Rangers and most recently Nice. But now it looks like he’s finally ready to return back to his home country.
