Alan Shearer claims that Kai Havertz is only a squad filler at Arsenal. The Gunners signed the Getrman International from Chelsea in the summer transfer window. However, his performance has been largely underwhelming till now. Havertz was expected to develop as a key player for Arsenal this season, Though, he is struggling to fit his boots at The Emirates Stadium. Now, former Newcastle United striker and Premier League legend Alan Shearer has made his claims on the German. Speaking on BBC’s Match of the Day, he said;

“When you look at the numbers – I mean there’s definitely a player in there – but for a player of his ability, it doesn’t match the numbers. They need to improve. You know though that you have to pay £60-70m for a squad player nowadays. So he’s going to play his part but whether he’ll be a regular or not, I don’t think so.”

Kai Havertz was regarded as one the most promising young talents during his time at Bundesliga. He even helped Chelsea in winning the UEFA Champions League. However, other than that his performance at Chelsea was very ordinary. it will be interesting to see if Arteta can get out the best of him. Havertz is clearly underconfident and needs to work hard to get to his best.

It will be an eye-catching story to see how Havertz develops himself in the upcoming months. Arsenal must be patient with him in order to let him regain his form and confidence without putting him under much pressure.
