Tottenham boss Antonio Conte claimed that his side a strong substitute bench next season to emulate their rivals, Chelsea.

Spurs succeeded in passing the final hurdle to cling on to the fourth place in the Premier League.

This helped them to overtake their rivals Arsenal and clinch a Champions League berth next season. They remained three points adrift from third-placed Chelsea.

Conte took over Spurs last November and achieved quite a bit with the club. He helped the team in achieving a fourth-place finish and knocking their rivals from fourth place.

Therefore, all eyes would be on Conte to how far he can take the team next season.

What did Antonio Conte say about substitutes?

Conte, after the match, spoke to the reporters about the new rules regarding substitutes next season.

This new rule would allow all the teams to make five substitutions during the match. Moreover, these substitutions can be made on three different occasions.

He praised the depth of the squads of Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester City.

Conte said,

We need to improve a lot. Next season the league will be very difficult for all the teams. With five subs you can change a game. If the bench is strong like a top team, like City, Chelsea, United, and Liverpool, you need to improve a lot your squad in quality aspects and numerical aspects. You have to face in England three national competitions and one in the Champions League.”

Chelsea’s substitutes against Watford included the likes of Jorginho, Romelu Lukaku, and Christian Pulisic last evening.

Chelsea is said to get busy in the market coming summer but only after their sanctions are lifted by the government. Conte will push for the Spurs management to make transfers next season. As they hope to win trophies next season.
