According to several reports, Arsenal is keeping tabs on Napoli captain Lorenzo Insigne as a potential attacking introduction. The Italian’s current contract with Napoli is set to end next summer. Arsenal looks to grab the opportunity to sign the Italian Winger. However, it will not be easy for the gunners to lure Insigne to their side next season.

Lorenzo Insigne coming up from Napoli’s youth ranks has been a mainstay for the club for consecutive eight years. Playing for the Italian side, Insigne has appeared 405 times, scoring 111 goals and 88 assists in all competitions. While he is also the captain of the club since 2019.

However, as per recent reports, Lorenzo Insigne could be ending his long stay at his childhood club. But despite all those links he is continuing at Napoli as no deal was confirmed in the transfer market.

But the transfer rumours are yet to stop. Lorenzo Insigne current contract with Napoli is set to end in 2022. Following which several clubs have lined up to sign the Italian as a free agent, and the list contains mainly Premier League clubs. Currently, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, and Chelsea are keeping tabs on the winger. While as per the reports, Arsenal is leading the race for Lorenzo Insigne’s signature. But there might be some complications in the road to land the Italian.

In recent days reports emerged that Insigne will be agreeing to sign a new deal with Napoli to extend his stay. The Italian club is offering 5 million per year to their captain as a part of the new deal. Following which it seems like a roadblock in the Insigne race for Arsenal and other clubs.

Why do Arsenal are keeping tabs on Lorenzo Insigne?

Arsenal starting the 2021/22 season had to suffer three consecutive defeats in their first three Premier League fixtures. However, the gunners somehow managed to get their form in their next matches.

The gunners have two serious problems at the upfront who are Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette. Aubameyang who has been the main threat for Arsenal in recent years has been struggling with form since last season. While Lacazette is probably going to leave the London club next summer as his contract ends.

Following which Arsenal are desperate to sign a new player for the final third and have set their eyes on Lorenzo Insigne. Playing as a left-winger, Insigne could surely put up a show for the struggling gunners. But landing Insigne will be hard for Arsenal as he might be extending his stay with Napoli. And if it’s not the case, then there is huge competition awaiting Insigne’s signature.
