Arsenal are not looking to replace their midfielder Thomas Partey in the January transfer. There were some reports suggesting Arsenal are looking for a replacement of Thomas. However, a latest report has put halt to all the rumours. Though, the addition of Declan Rice altered the central role of Arteta’s midfield with Rice replacing the Ghana international. Owing to this, Partey started at the right-back position. Though, the manager was criticised for this later on.

The 30-year old midfielder has been injured for a major part of this season after the game against Manchester United. Arteta also stated recently on Partey’s injury. He said,

“I think he will be out for weeks. I don’t know how long. He has another appointment today. We will see after that. It’s a big concern because when Thomas is fit and available we see the results and impact he has on the team.”

Many believe that Arsenal have found the right trio of Jorginho, Rice ad Odegaard for their midfield. However, selling Thomas and going for players like Zubimendi or Aston Villa‘s Douglas Luiz would have been a better option. According to Steve Kay at Football Insider, Thomas is unlikely to move away from Emirates this season.

“Despite recent rumours saying that Thomas Partey could leave in the January transfer window, Mikel Arteta has no intention of selling him.

It has also been rumoured Partey is unhappy with his lack of game time. This, I’m told, is also untrue. There are no plans to sit down and talk about a new deal, however, so the summer may be a different story in regards to him leaving.”
