Arsenal are out of the race for Brighton’s Moises Caicedo

Arsenal have withdrawn from the race for Brighton’s Moises Caicedo, as Chelsea are now favourites to sign the midfielder.

According to The Times, Gunners have pulled u-turn over signing of Brighton star this summer. Due to high price tag, Arsenal left the race for the Equadorian.

Arsenal director Edu Gasper and Co have effectively withdrawn their interest in the Equador international. However sources confirmed that Caicedo was one of the main target for Arteta this summer.

Declan Rice from is on top of Arsenal’s list, but their opening of £80 million bid was rejected by West Ham on Thursday. As per sources, Gunners will again bid for the England International soon.

Other than Rice, Arsenal also chasing Chelsea man Kai Havertz and Juventus star Federico Chiesa this summer.

The Seagulls will apparently demand around £80 million for his services after Caicedo confirmed that he’ll leave the Amex this window. His performance last season under manager Roberto De Zerbi was pure “world-class”.

Enrico Castro-Montes, who is working on the doctorate on the history of Equadorian football, claims Caicedo as a ‘the jewel’ of his country. He said:-

“There will be a lot of pressure on Caicedo’s shoulders.

“His nickname in Ecuador is ‘La Joya’, the jewel. In his own country, he is really seen as the crown jewel of a new generation.

“Caicedo really has everything to become the best Ecuadorian footballer of all time. I think that off the ball, he is indeed somewhat reminiscent of Kante, but on the ball, he resembles Paul Pogba with his flair and his technique.”
