Arsenal are planning to hijack the deal of Newcastle United’s £47m midfielder pursuit

Liverpool

Arsenal might hijack the deal of Newcastle United’s pursuit of midfielder Ruben Neves. The Portuguese is currently playing in Saudi Pro League and the owners of Newcastle and Al Hilal are from the same shot. Arsenal are already looking for some options to replace injured Thomas Partey . There have been many names linked with the Gunners already and talkSPORT now adds Neves in the list as well. However, Arsenal were linked with a move to sign Neves previously as well when he was at Wolves. Though, the Portuguese left Molineux and joined Al-Hilal in the summer for £47m.

Now, Ruben Neves is heavily linked with a potential return to Premier League with The Magpies. Though, Arsenal can hijack this move with Edu Gaspar being a long-term admirer of the former Wolves man. Neves is under contract until 2026 with the Saudi side. During the summer transfer, both Arsenal and Manchester United were in contacts with the midfielder. However, he was waiting for an offer from Spanish giants Barcelona. Consequently, none of the offers were accepted. A move to the Nou Camp did not materialise and no other club went for him. Eventually, he decided to accept the Saudi deal.

It will be interesting to see what Neves will decide on his future in January. It is also worth noticing that Premier League clubs are planning to vote for a ban against clubs loaning the players among the same ownership. This is a huge to blow to the hopes of Newcastle. Arsenal will surely be looking to capitalise this opportunity and hijack the deal. It will be worth noticing if any other club joins the race to sign Neves or will it be only a two-horse race.
