After three star-studded signings this summer, Arsenal are currently closing in on signing Gremio midfielder João Paulo de Souza Mares, commonly known as Bitello.

Gunners have had a summer to remember this term, bringing in 3 top players in likes of Kai Havertz, Jurrien Timber and Declan Rice. Mikel Arteta and the recruitment team of club have been quite busy in the last few months.

And, Arsenal are not looking to slowdown in this transfer window. According to TuttoMercatoWeb, Gunners are on the brink of landing Bitello for Brazilian club Gremio.

The Italian outlet claims both Arsenal and Gremio might close the deal this week, but Seria-A clubs are also keeping a close eye on Bitello. Although, the Brazilian outfit wants £10 million for their midfielder this summer.

Scouting outlet Breaking the lines recently published a detailed article on Bitello. They wrote :-

“A unique, versatile playmaker,’ they began. ‘Bitello would provide a counter-attacking threat for Arenal and could fill in as a backup on the right flank for Bukayo Saka.

“Alternatively, he could be a low-cost substitute for Romeo Lavia and provide a creative profile in central midfield. Especially in the event that Arsenal sell Thomas Partey.

“A young, cheap, versatile option who could fit into the budget. The arrivals of Declan Rice, Kai Havertz and Jurrien Timber, Bitello ticks all the boxes for Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.”

However, Bitello may need bit of time to settle in the Premier League. With great technical ability and passing range, he looks like perfect signing for Arsenal this summer.
