Arsenal Considering Last-Minute Summer Move for Mohammed Kudus?

Amidst the backdrop of already impressive signings, there’s growing speculation that the Gunners could be eyeing the ‘electric‘ talent of Mohammed Kudus from Ajax.

Mohammed Kudus: The ‘Golden Boy’ of Ghana

Described as Ghana’s ‘Golden Boy‘, Kudus has made waves in European football circles with his explosive athleticism, exceptional pace, and abundant power. His versatility shines through as he can seamlessly switch between midfield, wing positions, and even the center-forward role. Last season, Kudus showcased his prowess by netting an astonishing 18 goals and providing seven assists in 42 games for Ajax.

Ajax has placed a £44 million (€50 million) price tag on Kudus. A fee that, considering his potential and current form, seems reasonable. The Ghanaian’s addition could inject a fresh dimension into Arsenal’s attack and midfield play, potentially elevating their performance to a new level. However, the ultimate decision rests in the hands of Arteta and his assessment of Kudus’ fit within the squad.

West Ham’s Pursuit

West Ham United, have already made their interest in Kudus known. They submitted a £35.4 million (€42 million) bid for the Ghanaian midfielder. Although Ajax has rebuffed their advances, West Ham continues to pursue Kudus actively.

Ajax, unwilling to part with their star player, has seen Kudus start both of their Eredivisie matches this season. With two years remaining on his contract, Kudus is a prized asset, and Ajax’s reluctance to sell is understandable.

West Ham United, aiming to strengthen their squad following Declan Rice‘s £105 million departure, has been active in the transfer market. They have secured the services of Edson Alvarez, Kudus’ former teammate from Ajax, as well as James Ward-Prowse and Konstantinos Mavropanos from Southampton and Stuttgart, respectively. The pursuit of Sevilla star Youssef En-Nesyri further underscores their ambition to fortify their squad.

Romano’s Report Reveals

Fabrizio Romano, indicates that Arsenal’s interest in Kudus persists despite their prior summer splurge. Romano stated,

“Let’s see what happens also with Arsenal. Because Arsenal in June called for Kudus then they invested big money on Kai Havertz and all the other players they signed this summer… That’s why with Arsenal nothing was going to continue but never say never. That’s why Ajax decided to wait and not accept West Ham’s proposals.”

This revelation hints at the possibility of Arsenal swooping in late for Kudus. However, whether Mikel Arteta deems Kudus a pressing priority remains uncertain.
