Italian outlet CMW claims that Inter Milan are after Arsenal defender Gabriel. In their pursuit of Gabriel, Inter Milan are willing to offer Stefan De Vrij in the deal. Gabriel has a market value of a figure somewhere between £ 30 million and £34million
Gabriel – A central player for Arsenal
The 24-year-old has been an integral player for Arsenal since joining them from Lille in 2022. He has thrived under Mikel Arteta and has put on amazing displays of football under him. Mikel Arteta has been singing his praises since his first game of the season.
The Brazilian bounced back spectacularly after he picked up an injury over the summer. In his first Premier League game against Burnley, Gabriel had 10 clearances, three tackles, and two shot blocks for Arsenal. He did all of this while making only one foul. Mikel Arteta, in the post-match interview of the Burnley game, said that Gabriel is a player with an “incredible future”
“We know that he’s a player with an incredible future and is already giving us a lot,” Arteta said. “He has adapted really well to the league. That’s why we signed him.“
Gabriel is regularly linked with an exit from the Arsenal despite having a contract until June 2025. However, the player is happy at the club and is unlikely to push for a move away from North London. Inter Milan, however, are ready to test Arsenal’s resolve regarding the defender
Inter Milan looking for a defender. Arsenal unwilling to sell
To tempt Arsenal to sell the center-back, Milan are ready to include Stefan De Vrij in their offer. However, Arsenal seem unwilling to sell him.
Inter believe De Vrij has a value of £17million. It seems Milan seem to want to halve Arsenal’s asking price by including the 30-year-old defender. But it’s his age that is going to be a deterrent for the Gunners.
Arsenal’s transfer strategy has been to sign young but experienced players in the range of 2025 years of age. Gabriel is an example of this. So are Aaron Ramsdale, Ben White, and Takehiro Tomiyasu. So, it is possible that De Vrij might not be what Arsenal want in their squad.
