The 17-year-old Brooke Norton-Cuffy has been offered a new contract by Arsenal until the end of 2023. Norton-Cuffy completed the loan move on 18th January. Arsenal has a deal with Norton-Cuffy that runs through May 2022. According to David Ornstein of The Atheltic, his bright start at Lincoln City has earned him a new long-term contract with Arsenal that will run until the end of 2023.

Brooke Norton-primary Cuffy’s position on the field is right back, however, he can also play in a variety of other positions. On rare occasions, he even played in the left-back and center-back positions. After an argument with Lee Brown, Brooke was recently given a red card. Lincoln City, on the other hand, has filed an appeal to overturn the decision, which has yet to be made.

Despite this, he is having a solid season with the English league’s third-tier side. He’s loving his time on the right-wing, where he’s averaging 61 minutes a game. He also wins 50% of his duels and that number can increase given he is only 17 years old (stats via SofaScore).

Arsenal have Tomiyasu who has been impressive as a right-back but has been injury-prone lately. Cedric has performed well but his future is uncertain once Tomiyasu is back at full fitness. Moreover, Hector Bellerin and Ainsley Maitland-Niles have contracts expiring at the end of this season. In addition, both of them are likely to make their loan move permanent.

Why Arsenal wants to keep hold of Brooke Norton-Cuffy?

Brooke Norton-Cuffy has just spent one month with Lincoln City and has established himself as a regular starter. He covers the whole right flank with his defensive and attacking prowess. His gameplay could improve even more if he plays around with better players and gets good guidance from the coaching staff.

The 17-year-old defender can be a very low-cost solution to their problems, and instead of investing more money, they could give him a chance. He is a physical player who is also speedy, making it difficult for opposing players to catch up to him. Norton-Cuffy is excellent with his defense and winning back possession, and he also has excellent dribbling ability, almost as if he was a winger.

He could help Arsenal solve all their right-back problems while also being an option for a long time. His display against Doncaster Rovers suggests that he has a very good mentality. The whole team was performing very poorly but Norton-Cuffy was trying all he could to create chances and avoid mistakes.

Many players have emerged through the football academy system and gone on to become legends for their clubs. Norton-Cuffy has earned an opportunity to play for the Gunners in cup ties. This will allow the Gunners to track his progress and assess whether or not he can be a regular first-team player for the club in the future. Moreover, he can profit under Arteta who is known to improve the younger players.
