Tim Sherwood has praised Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka for his recent brilliant displays. The midfielder was tipped to leave the club in the recent summer windows.

However, he has performed brilliantly for the team under Mikel Arteta. Hence, the midfielder is now the first name on the team sheet.

THE BRILLIANT TURNAROUND OF GRANIT XHAKA AT ARSENAL

Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka has impressed many with his recent displays. However, it has not been an easy journey for the midfielder. He was the captain under the management of Unai Emery. However, his level of performance did not improve. He was also picking up red cards more than often. Hence, the situation with the fans finally reached a breaking point. He was booed by his own fans for his poor display against Crystal Palace a few seasons ago.

Hence, after that incident, he was removed from the captaincy of the club. A few months later Unai Emery was sacked. Therefore, Mikel Arteta replaced him as the manager. Hence, everybody expected him to sell the midfielder. However, Arteta instead worked with him to make him more effective. He has even managed to convince the midfielder to stay. Therefore, due to the management of Arteta and again backing of fans, the midfielder has turned his Arsenal career for good.

THE SWISS MIDFIELDER IS NOW THE FIRST NAME ON THE TEAM SHEET

Granit Xhaka is now the first name of the team sheet. The midfielder is now much more composed with his tackles. Xhaka has credited Mikel Arteta for turning his career around and giving him support. His performances are so good that the fans who were abusing him now sing songs for him. The midfielder is also now the deputy captain to Martin Odegaard.

Hence, experts have also taken note of his brilliant displays. One of them is former Tottenham manager Tim Sherwood. He said,

I love it when you have got a character like that. I absolutely thought he was finished once the armband went down. I thought there was absolutely no way back for him.“He has knuckled down. He has found a manager who he likes now, he really wants to play for the team, he drives them on, he is playing in a more advanced role now.”

Granit Xhaka was again brilliant for Arsenal against arch-rivals Tottenham Hotspur. The midfielder scored the winning for the Gunners. He helped the Gunners win the game 3-1. Hence, he also helped the team remain top of the Premier League this season.
