Arsenal targetting Galatasaray’s Victor Nelsson this summer

Arsenal are targetting Galatasaray defender Victor Nelsson, as they continue their spending spree in this summer transfer window.

Gunners have already signed Chelsea forward Kai Havertz and they’re closing down on both Declan Rice and Jurrien Timber deals. However, Arsenal’s sporting director Edu Gasper wants to more players this summer to improve their squad.

According to Turkish outlet Fanatik, Victor Nelsson has under Arsenal’s radar this summer. Manager Mikel Arteta wants to create depth in the squad, specially when they’re participating in Champions League next season.

Meanwhile, the Turkish league winners wants to sign Davidson Sanchez from their North-London neighbours Tottenham Hotspur. Both the sides have helds talks, as the player will be available for a fee around £24 million.

Victor Nelsson has been a mainstay for Galatasaray for last two seasons. He made 80 apperances in last two campaign and won the Süper lig in 2023.

Last season Nelsson recorded a 6.95 average rating, which is due to his stellar defensive work. He maintained one interception and 3.3 per game tackles, via Sofascore.

Back in 2020, Football scout Jacek Kulig took Twitter to highlight his steller development. He said :-

“Another Danish talent that will sign with a strong European club rather sooner than later.

“To emphasise the impact he has had on his current club, one board member, Reşit Ömer Kükner, would also write a glowing eulogy on his defensive hero:

“You are Galatasaray’s first Danish player. Besides being a great athlete devoted to his Club, your attitude on and off the pitch is winning hearts of millions. Your jersey gesture after the match is beyond description. You are our Danish lion!”

His defensive attributes and malleable nature make him a perfect player for Arteta to welcome into the Arsenal squad.
