Arsenal are now targetting Leicester City winger Harvey Barnes, but Irish footballer Tony Cascarino believes he is still not ready for Champions League.

Barnes in now under Arsenal’s radar with a Premier League return on the cards after Leicester City got relegated last season. The winger will be a wanted man this summer.

According to the Daily Mail, Barnes is currently monitored by three London clubs. Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham and Arsenal are all intrested in the winger this summer.

As per The Telegraph, Leicester demanded around £40 million for Barnes, as West Ham wanted to offer £30 million for the winger. Foxes new boss Enzo Maresca won’t want to lose his stars players on cheap.

However, former Irish footballer Tony Cascarino claimed that Barnes is still not ready to play in the Champions League. He told talkSPORT:-

“Harvey Barnes is slightly different (to Maddison) because he’s a bit one-dimensional, but he gets good numbers.

“He wants to just go past a fullback and drive into the 18-yard box. He has a nice left foot and he likes hitting things early.

“Again, would you put him in a team that’s in the Champions League? If you are asking for Champions League money, then they have to be in Champions League teams.

“As much as I like Harvey Barnes. I don’t think he is a Champions League player, at this moment.”

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp hailed Barnes as a “unbelievable player”. The winger was a rare shining light for Foxes last season.

Barnes will want to push for Euro 2024 and that why he needs to play in top-flight to stay in the hunt.
