Arsenal are interested in signing Villarreal winger Samuel Chukwueze, but will face competitions from other clubs this summer.
According to Italian outlet CalcioMercato, Arsenal are currently monitoring the 24-year-old and want to sign him this summer. But rival clubs such as Liverpool and Arsenal are also keeping an eye on him.
Chukwueze enjoyed a decent season for Villarreal last season. His six league goals and five assists helped his side to finish 5th in the league table.
However, Chukwueze only has one year left on his current contract which has alerted other big clubs. And, Arsenal one of the possible suitors as they look to bring more attacking cover this season.
Chukwueze would be a good back-option to Bukayo Saka and improve the overall quantity of the Arsenal squad. Gunners will also return to Champions League and thus need more reinforcement this summer.
Report from Calciomercato suggests the Villarreal haven’t set price tag for the 24-year-old winger. Besides Arsenal, clubs such as Liverpool, Real Madrid and AC Milan are also monitoring him.
Chukwueze is a huge fan of former Gunners player Santi Cazorla, as the pair played together in Villarreal. The Nigerian once claimed that the Spaniard was the best playmaker he has ever played with.
Back in 2021, Chukwueze said:-
“It has to be Santi Cazorla, he is a fantastic player who can play so well with both feet. He is special and very very talented.”
Arsenal plan to compete on four fronts next season and thus need more attacking players in the bench.
