Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger admits that he is a big fan of Aaron Ramsdale. Though, Mikel Arteta has benched Ramsdale in recent days yet Wenger has words of praise for him. Wenger was speaking on beIN SPORTS and reflecting on Arsenal’s 5-0 demolition of Sheffield United. Arteta made several changes in the game like addition of Emile Smith Rowe and Kiwior .However, Ramsdale still cannot get a start in the starting lineup. Moreover, after Chelsea game, it was necessary to start Raya to bolster his confidence. Wenger shared what he really loves in the Englishman if he gets the chance to make a comeback in the team. He said,
“Personally, I like [Aaron] Ramsdale. If I was in his position I would not give up because I believe he has a chance to get back into the team.”
Richard Keys then asks him if he thinks he’s better than David Raya and he says:
“Better? I don’t know if he’s better.
“I just think that Ramsdale has made decisive saves in games last season. They were not happy maybe with his feet, his distribution.
“[The most important thing is] to stop balls from going into goals. On the other hand, when you’re in this position, you always – it happened to me many times – you have a good team, but you want to improve the team.
“Then you look, what can I improve? Maybe the distribution from the back, it happened to me with centre-backs sometimes.
“I don’t believe in rotation of goalkeepers, I don’t believe this lack of clarity of the hierarchy, it doesn’t work. The hierarchy has to be clear.”
