Barcelona and their manager Xavi Hernandez targets Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich. There were speculations of the links between Barcelona and Joshua during the summer transfer as well. Though, no concrete decision came into light. Though, the Catalans ended up securing the services of Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan. The 28-year old Bayern midfielder has made 476 appearances for the Bavarians. Moreover, has scored 52 goals and has provided 115 assists so far. The Daily Mail believes that Barca may re-ignite their interest in German.

“Barcelona hope to bring Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich to the Nou Camp and play him alongside Ilkay Gundogan,” the outlet reports.

“The uncertainty around the player has given a boost to Barcelona as they look to strengthen their midfield options. Kimmich is a player that has been identified by Nou Camp chiefs.

“Gundogan this week made headlines by calling out the club after their El Clasico defeat to Real Madrid, saying he wanted to see more ‘anger’ from his team-mates. Barca now want to pair his winning mentality with Kimmich.

“Mail Sport understands it would be seen as a huge positive if Kimmich was brought in alongside his Germany team-mate Gundogan as boss Xavi seeks more experienced players with a history of winning trophies and titles.”

This will be a great addition for Xavi and Barcelona if they secure the move. However, it will not be an easy nut to crack as Tuchel really counts on the midfielder. Moreover, Kimmich has been a regular starter for Bayern and under these circumstances, it is difficult for him to leave Allianz Arena.
