Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023: India won the Nagpur Test

In the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023, Ravichandran Ashwin picked up five wickets and helped the Indian cricket team defeat Australia by an inning and 132 runs.

Ashwin dismissed Australia’s top order, including Usman Khawaja, David Warner, Matt Renshaw, Peter Handscomb, and Alex Carey, leaving the visitors struggling.

He secured the 31st five-wicket haul of his career.

Ultimately, the kangaroos managed to get just 91 in their second innings and handed over an innings defeat in the first match of the series.

Ash reminded a funny incident at Nagpur Test

After the match, Ashwin shared a small hilarious incident of fans calling him ‘Anna Bhaiya‘.

Coming from Chennai, it’s nothing new for fans to call him ‘Anna’.

However, he took to his Twitter account and corrected the fan that both ‘Anna‘ and ‘Bhaiya‘ means the same thing.

Here’s what he tweeted:

Meanwhile talking about the Nagpur victory, he credited the other spin all-rounders Jaddu And Axar for their important contribution.

While Jadeja took a fifer in the first innings and scored valuable 70 runs with the bat. Axar Patel also scored 84 runs and missed out on his well-deserving maiden ton.

Ash on bowling with Jaddu

Ashwin told Star Sports about what it feels like bowling alongside with Jaddu.

Massive help is an understatement,”

He’s (talking about Jadeja) been in phenomenal form. The way he’s batted, the way he’s bowled and we don’t have to talk about how well he moves in the field. He’s been a fantastic cricketer. I’m so thankful for the fact that I’ve got a partner like him to be bowling alongside me,

he added.

Axar is no ordinary bowler either. We’ve got a very good set of spinners and all of us who can bat,”

Currently, India are 1-0 up in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023 and will face the Aussies in the second test at Delhi on 17th February.
