Unai Emery had confirmed before the game against Manchester United that the Brazilian will miss the next two games before World Cup. Coutinho missed out on the Aston Villa squad which traveled to Manchester over the weekend. Unai confirmed that the Brazilian have sustain a quadricep injury.

“Coutinho is injured.”

Emery revealed to the BirminghamLive,

“I don’t know how long it will be but, today, he couldn’t play and he’s not going to play until after the break. It’s a muscular injury. He’s not going to play on Thursday or Sunday because he’s injured and he’s out longer.”

Coutinho to miss next Aston Villa game

The new team manager Unai Emery has already confirmed that the 30- year old will miss the last game before Christmas. Although, fans were expecting to see him back after Christmas when Premier League resumes back again. Medical specialist Ben Dinnery thinks the player could be out for two months due to this injury. Dinnery suggests that it is unlikely for the 30-year-old to return immediately after the World Cup. While speaking on Premier FPL Injuries’s Youtube Channel Dinnery commented:

“Unai Emery confirms that the Brazilian suffered a thigh problem in training. There’s no definitive timeline on a possible return to play, but suffice to say, we’re looking at a minimum of six weeks according to initial reports – potentially going beyond two months, so it sounds as if it’s a pretty nasty one.”

With the new manager coming in the dugout, Coutinho will be missing valuable time to impress him.

Coutinho’s heartbreak over the World Cup miss

The former Barcelona player was not named in the Brazil World Cup squad that was announced a few days ago given to his injuries. Although given his form this season before the injury, it would have been a surprise to see his name in the squad. He is yet to register a goal in all competitions this season despite making 13 appearances for the team. It will be interesting to see his future plans following the injury and with the new manager coming in.
